I have 245/50 14s on my 6M 84 and have run 4.30s. With the 5% smaller tires the final drive ratio is equivalent to 4.56s.
The additional acceleration is worth it for sure, but if yours is a daily driver the freeway mileage will suffer. I lost about 2 mpg.
Mine is an automatic, so the ultra low 1st gear problems don't apply (2.45:1). With a 5sp, 1st gear will be over in a heartbeat,... But 2nd, 3rd and 4th will pull that much harder!
