I noticed that today when I was in the power mode and was getting on it the transmission would 1-2 upshift at 5200 rpm and then 2-3 upshift at 5700 rpm. Is this normal? Does it 1-2 shift at lower rpm's so it doesn't put as much strain on the tranny while speed is building? I searched the forum but no luck. The transmission shifts nice and crisp and chirps the rear tires when it shifts from 1st to 2nd.(cool when merging on to the interstate from the on ramp!) Thanks for any info.

actually the automatic should shift 300 rpm later our of first. i'm not sure if it's desighned that way or it's hydraulic delay but i know at low speedsit does it cuz it's programmed. the transmission is supposed to change at 5600. do you notice steady power all the way to the shift? or does it kinda taper off and jolt into second
my car does that and breaks loose at 40 then again at 70 if the roads are wet.

73 sounds a little late but i can't be sure on that since my car has NO balls whatsoever at those rpm's cuz of my valve-bounce. if it's shifting smoothly and stuff i wouldn't worry about it. if it ain't broke don't fix it. if it shifts late that only means you get more outta the gear since our cars are supposed to pull great all the way to the redline.
