All four of my backing plates are rotted out and Im trying to source new ones but I cant find any. I found Cressida ones on eBay that look the same, anyone know if they will work?

Doesn't Guido make some rear ones?
A bit more expensive because of shopping from France...

you don't need them unless the car is being driven in very inclement weather. Which is not a good idea as you know re: rust.

You are right about that.
But sadly in some places(read Denmark), even though you are only driving it in summer time, they are required to be there and they need to be whole.
If they are missing, or have rust holes, the car will not pass an inspection (Every 8 years for veteran cars, or 2 years for a normal car).
Oh and, you are not allowed to modify your brakes, unless pay a lot of money to get the car inspected, and tested by a verified company.

So i will be following this thread closely.

You could find some aluminium pie plates and cut them down and modify them to fit.

Ofcourse you should sell to Fritz first, but if one of you are interested in selling the front and rear backing plates to me. Then send me a pm.

Similar in Germany (only that veteran cars also need to see tech inspection every two years). OTOH, it depends on the guy doing the inspection. I once owned a Peugeot minvan where one rear backing plate was rusted through and in the end I simply cut it off. Brakes were still working OK so the car did pass (only to be totalled by a young guy not much later).

I think I've seen an ad in one of our magazines of a company who will make such custom parts. If interested, PM me and I will look for it. Depending on the grade of your desperation, it might be an option.
