i've had an oil leak for some time now and have stayed on top of it since i've owned the car. two days ago i ran out of oil while driving and i now hear the worst knocking i've ever heard. :oops: i think i may have either spun a bearing or the cylinder is hitting the valve. i'm either picking up a free 5m this weekend or i can buy a 7mgte with 47xxx miles on it. im not sure what i should do. does the 7mgte bolt right in or would there need to be mass mods taking place? also, does anyone have any idea what the knocking could be? thanks alot! :?

my money is on a rod knocking...............Get both motors, drop in the 5mge, build the 7mgte for later :) :)

has to be rodknock. unless the valve-bouce got WAY outta control and got stuck open or something it aint a valve hitting a piston. these aren't crappy hondas.

the 5m would be easier but the 7m would kick ass and if you got all the electronics and stuff it'd be semi easy to do if you've done it before.

my car went low on oil so when i blewthe engine i checked what went wrong and it was the #2 connecting rod bearings, i don't know if that is just the one thatwent or if because it is above the oil pick up it gets starved for oil when it is low. All the other bearings looked almost perfect,mminor signs of wear on 2 of them.

itll take alot more time 2 change 2 motors rather then 1.. id say but the 7m and throw it in..... that my 2cents

when i turned the car on the other day to clear out the gas, it idle's nicely. no knocking, no problems what so ever. but then when it warmed up and i gave it some gas, it knocked like woah, then stalled. i didn't even try to start it again. so right now it's chillin in my driveway and i am gunna try to have it fixed. it's so much fun to drive and i can't wait to get it back/ also what is a good exhaust system for it. i was thinking of straight piping it out the right side or back to keep some back pressure. the car is good till 2005 so i can basically make it illegle.. not that i want to.. thanks

if you did a search you would find its a pretty big deal putting a 7mgte in. you have replace the wiring harness.

If you have the time and the money and the know how or know someone that does go for the 7mgte if not get a 6m those are direct bolt ins, I did mine myself and was very easy. plus is a good power upgrade.
