blew up my mk2

Well the engine in my free supra wasn't any good after all, so my buddy and I took it off-roading to get a feel for how it'll handle (we're going to be using it for as a stock-class <3liter rwd rally car). It did really well, although ground clearance was an issue. Before anyone complains about tearing up a perfectly good mk2, keep in mind we got this car for free.

This was the ignition "key" that came with the car:

It was missing a lot of parts, most notably most of the intake system. PVC intake piping from home depot, and a zip-tied t-shirt made up the filter/piping:

The hood wouldn't fit on due to the damage to the front bumper. We did do some damage to the lower corner of the bumper when we almost got stuck in a creekbed (back up and go faster!):

After a few hours, the rod knock got way worse and the power went to complete shit. We limped it to my friend's house cause it was closer, but the engine finally gave just a few feet from his driveway:

We found parts of the block in the street:

When we finally towed it into his backyard, this fell on the ground:

Just a guess, but it probably came from here:

Anyway, hopefully we'll have another engine by spring. The brakes also need some work, and we're working on making a race-suitable intake and ignition

Thats pretty Awesome thanks for sharing....What is the plan now?
probably a jdm engine. hopefully we can get the intake piping and airbox with it
A friend of mine pointed me to your post on sf.com last week...it was awesome. You guys shoulo check it out...mk4 owners actually adminting that the mk2 kick ass.

If you don't get an intake/air box with your new motor i have an airbox in mint condition that would be willing to donate to your cause :D I was actually gonna save it just incase i put the car back to stock....aint no way that's gonna happen now.

Good luck and LMK.

**EDIT** Pix don't seem to be working.
nope, no pics. You've exceeded your daily limit! The story sounded great though! Slip on this board is doing some rallying with his supras too
wow, villagephotos didn't even last a day. Here's the post on SF - I can't link the pictures cause they change it so the attachments just show up instead of links

may i suggest www.hpphoto.com or www.imagestation.com

hp photo gives a huge storage quota, and ive never had the bandwidth run out on me.
hpphoto.com rocks...no f'n passwords, they have the auction link feature, huge space...imagestation is for **** :D
I like pbase best, only downside is its not free anymore and you can't link images into your posts from it, you have to give links. Oh well, good for modem users.

Pics are working for me today, great shots!

nah there is a jdm importer local here. I just don't want to deal with the hassel of shipping an engine...
man, those pictures RULE...

what I wouldn't do for an ultra-cheap running mk2, lol.
I did a quick search and didn't find relevant information quickly -- If I were to get a 6M-GE would everything transfer over, or would I have to do some wiring and track down manifolds and such? I can get a 6M-GE for like $40 more than a 5M-GE so I figure why not get the extra .2 liters if it's plug-n-play. In my search I did see that the 6M did come with a more aggressive ECU in Japan, but someone mentioned they were using a 5m ecu with theirs...

you said you were going to enter into a rally. and it has to have less than 3.0L engine..

but anyway, from what i hear the 6mge is plug n' play. the ecu doesn't make a difference. people say it runs richer is all.

I think I can get away with the 6M since it came from the factory with it installed and I doubt anyone would know the difference. The 7m-gte wouldn't be "stock" though. And I believe the 6M is the same size as the 7m -- 2,95X cc's
