How much can you take off total before you have to worry about Valve Clearance on the 5m. I getting my head re done and will have my block done soon and know it will need to be milled because the surface is pitted. and want to go with the thinest MHG I can to up Compression. but I don't want to bend a valve and knock a hole in a piston.

.030" of the head + .005" of the deck works fine on mine. Make sure you mill the block the minimum you can since it affects piston to head clearance.
