Guys working on a front brake conversion for the MK2 that will be more affordable. Almost there. Will fit 15" and bigger wheels. There may be some limitations though.

Here is a sneak peek at it. The cardboard is temporary and is there for a reason, I'll explain later.

I should have everything worked out by the new year. Just waiting for parts, holidays to start and exams to finish.

Once completed I will post the conversion on the web so anyone can do it themselves.

BillyM runs them and has tracked his car a couple of times and so does JohnB on his TC car. I just did them and I like them alot. I added the MKIII master cylinder and it brings the pressure to a stock feel. Just came back from the dragon and they were flawless.

Picked these up. Last week: 1995 Q45 front calipers.

Adding them with MPV rotors I ordered:

Ill post up some more pics when I start drilling the rotors and grinding the hub.

Get someone to grind the hubs for you.....ask me how I know....unless you have a pretty large grinder or wheel.
I haven't measured anything yet, how much material has to be ground off of the hubs? And are the MPV rotors going to be hubcentric or will I need to find an adapter?

Almost 1/2"...

Use a 60.1mm to 74mm plastic hub-centering ring and use lugnuts to pull the disk down solid.

So has anyone actually done the 350Z/Q35 Brembo upgrade? I'm confused about the rears: are there Brembo calipers that fit with/without adapter on the rears? If this was done, what are the dimensions for the smallest rim?

Finally, has anyone performed the higher end swap options (see page 37) on a Cressida?

Thanks a lot guys! This thread is a feat of ingenuity. I really admire you guys a lot for this one.
Mike
350Z/G35 Brembo calipers are the same as used on R33/R34 Skylines. Just look for the posts I posted concerning the Skyline calipers in this thread.

Front Brembo calipers will bolt up straight to the strut, but shorter bolts are required than used with the Nissans. The only disc to date I've looked at that fits with this is from a Ford Falcon built in Australia.

Rear Brembo calipers won't bolt straight up and require adapters, so don't waste your time. If you really want bigger rear brakes, then go with the FC/FD front calipers and Z32 rear disc setup.

I have another interesting twist to all this, but far too busy to finalize it. It will be a great improvement.

As always this is a work in progress as I keep finding new components that work.
Thanks for the info rsdeo! Your contributions to all of this is really awesome.
Actually, I didn't quite read your post right. What front caliper setup would be the next step down from the Brembos that will work well with the FD/FC caliper-Z32 rear disk setup? I need this to be as bolt-on as possible too...
Just go with the Q45 front upgrade and leave the rear stock. The Q45 is a much heavier and more powerful car than yours and it will work great for you.
^ What he said. As you increase front braking, you increase weight transfer, meaning you have less weight/tracking from the rear wheels, so increased rear braking is unnecessary.

I run Q45/MPV combo on the front of my full-weight 360rwhp mk2, and it sees plenty of lap days with excellent result. Not the best, but definitely the best in the $350-700 front brake upgrade range ($350 is a reasonable guess on the conversion).

Can even drill your own rotors to really save money. I have about $125 in mine so far. And all I have left is to grind the front hubs and install.

You get to drill rotors in your living room?!

Lucky!

--billyM
Carpeted shop?
That looks about like how I did mine, minus the carpet lol.

Yeah yeah billy! You've seen my living situation. Lol. I have car parts on the bed, drill rotors in the living room, and solder wiring at the kitchen table. No room on the porch to work right now cause it full of celica gt parts, rear louvers, and other misc overstock parts from pull-a-part. Lol.

I am SO JEALOUS!

I'd get kicked out of the freakin' house.

Billy, I am awesome wife who likes Supras, what can I say. ;) Supra parts welcome!! But no it wasn't the living room. He isn't that lucky.
since im on vacation i wanted to finally start doing some upgrades on my car. someone posted earlier, a late Q45 and catera setup. what else is onvolved in this?
like everyone else i want the least machining and spacer junk possible. it sounds like all i need is the caliper, rotor and studs? can i use my techanfit brakelines?
Not sure. I know the nissan lines work great.

95 q45 calipers, use stock mk2 caliper bolts to mount.

94 mvp 4WD rotors. I got mine on ebay for $80 for the pair, slotted and cross drilled.

Take grinder, bandsaw, file, whatever and cu off the outer 1/2" or so of the hub.

Drill press new holes (4x114.3mm) into rotor.

As long as the holes are perfectly centered, you should be fine.

Hammer out old wheel studs.

Install the longer studs mentioned previously in this thread.

Bolt everything together, bleed brake lines, and enjoy. Did mine in an afternoon.

My total investment: $130. Including braided ss brakelines.
