Hey guys, finally subbed up. Of course it's cuz i'm in trouble.

Those who remember me know my car, those that don't should know it's an 85 with a 7MGE (no i didn't forget the T).. While you'd think that a NA 7M transplant is just plain silly, and you'd be right, you wouldn't think that someone would do it using the 5M electronics.. Granted, there is one car that has this similar setup and runs well, but he at least uses the 5M injectors and such..

Anyway, bad went to worse when the 5M wiringing harness had a close encounter with the EGR valve and caused terminal faliure of the Everything circut.. So rather than restoring the car to it's former mediocracy I decided to take what I thought I wouldn't need (my 91 NA's electronics) and swap them into the system..

So besides the realization that I'll need these pieces later, I'm having problems wiring up the MKII. While all the write ups are nice, none of them address the quirks of the NA electronics and none seem to cover the 91 cars... So I've flat gone mad...

So with 5 different wiring diagrams to look at with nothing to show for it, I'm asking if anyone here might have a knack for this sort of thing and would like to comment.. You're welcome to do so... And thanks in advance.

Zaron <----- 3 supras and none running.

Good to hear your still out there!

As the other guy with the 7MGE conversion, I'll offer to help where I can. I'm also thinking of changing over to the 7M electronics. But, I was going to use the pre 1990 for some reason I can't actually remember right now. I already have almost everything to do the swap but it's all from an '88.

I did go through the wiring diagrams in the 1987 and 1985 TSRM's and come up with which wires needed to be where. I almost have that finished... The sensors change too. I bought the EPC to verify part numbers but the drned thing won't install on my Win2000 box for some wierd reason.

I'm in Washington, DC this coming week but I can try to get you something when I get back. I don't have access to the forum while I'm traveling.

PM me a phone number so we can talk when I get back...

Thanks for the offer... I've got alot of the wiring diagrams, I just need to figure it all out... The harnesses are pretty different on the 91 from all the other models... It's really a pain... I think the main thing I need to do is sit down and concentrate to get the wires mapped out.. then just find the damn things and start splicing... no plugs for me.. =(.

Most of the wiring changes are going to involve wiring the instrument cluster I/Os and power inputs to the 7M ECU. The rest should contained in the engine harness. I don't believe you'll need a tach adapter like you would with the GTE conversion. Mostly its the same wiring job as a GTE conversion.

This is true. I don't think the gauges will be a big deal, it's the EFI relays and the Fuel Pump stuff that's boggling my mind at the moment. As simple as I can make the task in my head, it gets complicated as soon as it's all in front of me.

Luckily I have an electical engineering buddy stopping by today. Maybe we can sort through it all.

The sub-harness for turbo and non turbo are the same, all under dash stuff.

Do you have the donor car? or access to all the plugs that were in it?

While I have the plugs from the donor car, I don't want to use them.. They are from my MKIII that I'm converting over to a turbo...

Actually, this morning I had one of the local supra guys, who's studying to be an Electrical Engineer, stop by and we went over all the docs and wiring diagrams we could find.. Figured out that we can basically rebuild the whole efi system from the MKIII with just two relays (off my turbo parts car)... There is some soldering of course, and a few logistical hurtles, but it looks as though it's going to work now...

It's much eaiser to understand when you have someone else there to help you look at it...

Oh yeah, Jeff. Look me up in Vegas this year too. I'll show you what we did to hook it up.. It's really cake once you have a handle on it... It might convince you to go full 7M even if it's just for the computer...
