aint cheap but they do still make them i beleive. if you select a car and go to toyota the 5m-ge is the second on the list.
I have a source for performance cams for our cars. The duration is changed by 10 degrees, and .0040 of lift has been added. I will need your cores for exchange, and the turnaround time is 2-3 days. The valvetrain geometry is corrected with the use of stainless steel shims placed under the hydraulic lash adjusters. Price? $79 per cam. I do not have any dyno results. Take care guys.

Aaron, would you need to install new rockers/lash adjusters?? or do the shims suffice?? Are the cams re-hardened??
Aaron? where Can I find em?And i think wednesday I am gonna ajust my Valves, Any sugjestions anyone?
Adjust your valves???? HOW?????????

The 5MGE's have hydraulic lifters... They are self adjusting...
I'll sell you my Gude cams if you're interested :D
AJ, My cam shop warranties their work, only if you purchase remanufactured, or new rocker arms. The stock replacement cams I offer are not rehardened, unless the damage from the repaired cams was so great, excess material had to be removed and rewelded. The performance cams are not rehardened, assuming the cores that were used didn't need excessive repair.

83CSDRFTerKC, I cannot give out my source for my cams! Catch you guys later.

79 bucks a cam is pretty reasonable, how much do they charge for rockers? and do they sell the shims?
Rocker arms will cost you $4.20 ea, and I'll need your old pieces for cores. The shims are included in the price of the cams. Take care.

tempting...

more duration is better for turboed cars isnt it?
i mean duration is more important than lift, if i understand correctly.

hmm, more things to think about :)

No, usually its not. Overlap is the key. You have to keep it down or the turbo starts blowing right on out the exhaust. Higher lift cams with mild duration increases, coupled with adjustable cam gears would allow you to find the optimum setup.

thanks, not sure where i got turned around on that one, but its nice to find out the correct info.
yeah that's a great price for cams, but problem is that noone has cheap cam gears. the price they charge for the 2jz ones are ridiculious. plus you have to have them machined to fit right.
AEM makes adjustable timing gears for the 5m

They still need to be machined to fit just like the 2JZ gears (in fact they have the same part #s)
