some more details would help like color and amount. anyother sounds are the fluid levels ok. stuff like that.

mine has a ton of white smoke at start up and at idle for a while but that's just condensation inside the exhaust pipes. at least that's what i belive. it goes away after about 10 min of driving. and dosen't come back untill the next morning.

Its Oil smoke. Fair amount of smoke comes out. It happens aftre the car has been running for a while and I stop at a light or park and leave the car running. I think its burning oil. Doesn't smoke while driving only after sitting still. All fluids are fine.

Valve stem seals!!!!!

mine does the same thing, it still burns while you drive just not enough to notice it...as you idle it kind of builds up and when you gun it to take off puffs of smoke come billowing out.....

Try quaker state high milage oil... I've been using it and it hasn't been burning anywhere neer as much. Its either a frikin' miracle or the oil accually does recondition valve stem seals...

Yes its a pain, mainly just time consuming. I had the same problem with the 7mgte in my mk3. I put it off for a months by using an oil additive and for the life of me I cant remember what it's called - actually there are several products out there you can add to the oil that can soften up the seals a bit and delay the inevitable. I had 24 to change out in the 7m.
I think the stuff I used for awhile was called Risalone or something like that. But it got rid of the smoke for a few thousand miles.
