This is probably the best way it could have ended. Now there will be a public trial that will document all of the horrible things that Saddam did and he will have to defend his actions in front of whole world and particularly the Arab world. Had he not been captured and presumed dead, hordes of followers could have continued to believe him a martyr. I just hope this means our troops will be out of there that much sooner.

there's a whole hell of a lot more than just 1 more to go. As far as threats to security, financial and equipment backing of terrorist organizations. There were and are higher threats that Saddam ever was (not saying that would shouldnt string the s.o.b. up for the littany of things that he has done)
I hate to tell ya guys.. but things are only gonna get worse now. The few supporters and members of tha Ba'th party are going to turn to terroristic tactics because they think it will scare us enough to let him go...

This, to them, isn't terrorist tactics... this is Guerilla Warfare... Not to mention, up until now, it was just the Islamic extremists who want the US out of Iraq. When the Ba'th and Saddam supporters turn to terrorist tactics, you'll be seeing alot more 9/11 type situations around the world...Moorman said:

i dont think he would be as much as a martyr then say Ol bin laden.in fact his death would barely make him a martyr.
his hardcore followers were not religious zealots unlike the followers of bin laden, they were politically connected apointees. looking for favouritism connections and what that could give them in the iraqi system. remember iraq and iran were and are deadly enemies, irag is as fundamental as they come, the baathist party members is the opoosite.
one is ultra religious the other just a political party very unreligious
and they are paradoxcally opposed to on another in their idealism.
saddam will probably live his life out in prison somewhere.
iraq does not have the means to trial him properly and many would just rather lynch him asap... what i could not figure is is why this guys didnt have a better hidey hole

did anyone hear saddam's response to being offered a glass of water? it was something along the lines of this:
"if i take that glass of water, i will have to urinate. if i have to urinate, i will have to use the bathroom. and how do you expect me to use the bathroom when the people of my country are enslaved?"
