My '85 started to over heat today on the freeway. It apears to only be a blown hose but while i was pulling off the freeway the check engine light came on. so i got towed home and found and removed the hose. So what should i do? Replacing the hose is easy enough but what about the engine light? Is there anything i should check or should the hose be enough?

dont worry about the check engine light untill you get the hose replaced and filled back up.. if it goes away.. then all is well... you can only tackle 1 thing at a time.

Check the 2 sensors on the thermostat housing if one of the clips are loose it will cause the check engine light to illuminate. HTH
