Of course you can attend! Gosh, I'm the last person to be biased here. You wanna talk Supras, come on out. I just hope we can get a few members to show. Its gettng into the holiday season and people get kinda busy. Still hope to meet up, test fit, and yes hoping on another saturday!
im still in the hunt guys! keep us posted!! ooo and im guessing we dont need the gas shocks anymore?? please lmk how it will be raised and what not. blahmess
The CF hood will not be using the struts to lift. Those thingies attached to your shoulders will do the work
Seriously, estimated weight around 22lbs, stock is more like 47 lbs, you will need a hood rod or something to prop the hood open. Stock hinges will still be used. Stock latch style too. They always suggest hood latches to be added, but an individual choice for sure.
Hey Everyone! The Supra CF Hood test fitting Meet is still on! Next Saturday, Dec 15th, 11am at the Advan Carbon Warehouse. See above for address.
Would be great to get a bunch of S.Calif members to chat up our cars! If you want to see what a CF Hood looks like on your car come on down!
I should have an excellent white OEM hood available for sale at this meet too! My modified OBX header is still available for cheap! (see parts for sale ad)
Mark your calendars, I just confirmed the day with the Advan guys!
Don L.
ps: I expect to have my Supra put back together by next weekend, so my car should be coming down too!
Wow, what a good time meeting a bunch of guys, and big thanks for everyone that came out! We especially appreciated the hospitality and efforts by Don, the owner of Advan Carbon (Versus Motorsport) for hosting this test and fit, providing food and drink, and answering questions on custom CF projects.
More details and info after I get some sleep tonight. A 6.5 hr drive home has me a bit tired. Suffice to say, the CF Hood is awesome! Great fit/finish/detail.
We fitted it to my '84 Supra and with a few minor adjustments of those rubber bumpers under the front part of the hood, it sat very flush with the rest of the fenders/header panel. The hinges bolted on fine, the latch worked perfect, can't say enough about the quality of this hood. The price point will be a tremendous deal. Dave probably got the best pics, and hopefully he will post some up. My camerz fizzed on me so I'll post some cell phone pics and other stuff tomorrow. We also mounted the hood onto Dave's beautiful white Supra. Pics don't do that car justice. You have to see it in person and touch it to appreciate the care and detail he has into that car. The CF hood really looks great on white, and fit great too.
I'll post up the group buy details and pricing tomorrow, it will be a limited quantity at the special price (10 units), so if you have thought about getting an awesome CF hood, this will be the opportunity not to pass up!
Production of the hoods will begin immediately, and I expect all orders to be filled in a very timely manner.
This Hood is exactly what i wont! It has all the OEM fetchers such as mounting points for the OEM hood whiskers found behind the headlight on the hood and the ability to add the rubber seal at the front of the hood. With the full OEM bracing this hood has little to no lateral flex when handling the hood off the car. Overall I am vary impressed with the quality of this hood.
