The place I took my head to off of my 5m just called me and told me its going to be 280 bucks to get the head ready that it has 3 cracked valve seats and one bad lifter...I'm not to happy!!!!

Has anybody else had this problem I don't know if I should try and find another head or just get this one fixed.

I'm thinking about just going with a 6m instead of messing with this now. What I should have done in the first place, I just wanted to try and save some money.

Id personally get the 5m head fixed, depending on what state the rest of the engine is in? If its old and getting worn out from too many km, for sure go for a 6m. If you buy the wrong one (unknown condition) , you could soon end up with two stuffed engines.

I know its kind of a crap shoot but this place has them with a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty.

A friend of mine with a 6m took me for a ride lastnight and I was very impressed, I want one now bad.

I just purchased a head from these guys and I was very impressed with the quality of the head, they don't charge for the core, they trust you to send your old head back and it is cheaper than the 280 to fixed the cracked one. Check out the link. HTH

What came included with the head? cams, lifters, valves, etc? All I see mentioned is something about sending your "complete" head back....

Those cannot be all new components in that head. the lifters alone are $30 a piece at shop cost. So they are probably just all used components. Not saying that anything is wrong with them. Another alternative, which I did, was purchase another junk head, tell the peps u need it for a core and get it really cheap. Take what u need to fix urs and let it be. I got my head for lifters and one exhaust valve . Cost me $50 and a friend cut me a deal on machine work. Cost me live $100 Total and a case of beer. You know the story.
