Hi all, I've recently gotten the idea of making a mount to be used for an adhesive backed phone mount which would replace the right side cruise control button (since my car was swapped to a 2JZGE), and I don't really need cruise control on my build. And I thought of sharing my little contraption while I'm at it.

I have a few other contraptions like the headlight motor cover and the power window plastic covers.

Not bad at all, nicely done. Have you looked into the mounts with built in wireless charging? Might be a nice option if your phone supports it.

I have used a CD player mount to hold my cell phone but it was too far away from my sight line.
I covered my horn pad and glued Velcro strips to that on my steering wheel. WAY better. No pix.

Wait so basically when your driving you put your phone in the middle of your steering wheel right where your horn is?

YES!!! I don't need to use my horn often. My WAZE is near my line of sight. It's also a good speedometer.
The upside-down feature has not been disabled.
Charging is a bad idea when driving.

That is actually a great spot for it, we don’t have air bags anyways so it shouldn’t be a safety concern

I guess the only downside to that is the phone would spin around as you turn the wheel. The one I made here is a direct bolt on to where the original button sits, only difference being is that it uses different hardware for it.

My phone does support it, I'm just used to this specific phone mount being easy to use for my application, will definitely check out the wireless charging feature.

It's pointless and dumb because you can get all types of mounts cheap as it is including steering wheel.

That's the thing, I'm not really into the idea of mounting it on a steering wheel, nor on the windshield or the dashboard. I have a new in the box dashboard that I'll be installing which is why I wanna keep it neat and not put anything on it.

I love the idea and may iterate on it to have a slide-in option with a charging cable feature as well...
