Custom rear axles - feeler for interest

I've cracked 3 rear hub/axles while endurance racing, and know of a few other Supra owners with the same problem. The failure point seems to be the e-brake access hole and then a crack radiates to the center of the hub.

I've spoken with 2 friends who are machinists and they both mentioned that the radius of certain areas is not up to the stresses of racing or high power levels. I asked about creating a solution and the best answer was billet Chromoly replicas with updated radiusing where necessary.

The first drawing is below and includes (4) and (5)-lug options. The machinist mentioned that the lug and e-brake access holes would be the last stage of production and could be different on each (I don't use an e-brake, and will be using 5-lug wheels on a new project).

At this time I have no idea on price, but the more sets that are made will result in lower price for all. The reality is that they will be expensive ($1200-1500 set?). A few people in my race thread have expressed interest and I wanted to capture a bigger audience here.

$1200-1500... Ouch!

subscribed.
I'd be interested in a set, 4 lug with the E brake hole (you can put the hole about 1/8" further outboard compared to stock it's just for installing the E brake springs and other hardware)

Did you break another one using proper metal hub rings on your wheels? Still looks like some kind of oddball radial or axial load not a torque issue...
I'm up to 3 personally, the last one with aluminum hub rings in place.

When you lose revenue from 3 races due to parts breaking, the price is very attractive. They're definitely not for everyone.
I'm interested though not doing any road racing in my Mk 2
Interested. Just built my diff, so may as well build this
Just saw this, you know I'm interested having broken one on my MX73, Like you said, lost revenue of track time and worse, damage to the car or injury that you can't put a price on.
I just heard back from my machinist and if we can get orders for 10 sets the cost will be $1200/set. 4340 Chromoly. If you're serious I'll need a $200 deposit once the logistics are worked out (timeline and lug information - see below).

Mine would be 1 set standard BCD (4x114) with E brake hole.
I’m interested in 5x114.3 with E brake hole (Supra)

Thanks
i want to see this happen so if you need me for a 10th put me down :)
besides i may actualy work on mine afain someday and go 2jz / tru-track, so having a set of these would not be a bad thing
will these be available after this buy, or is this a 1 shot deal ?
Best would be to make sure the drawings are retained after the first production run so if more need to be made it's easier for the community.

Im happy to take some initial drawings and redo them as needed.
Th drawings will be saved. I have no idea if there will be another run, but the hard part will already be done (drawings and programming), so they may be willing to make a smaller number of sets later.

Was there ever a solid answer about crush or solid spacer availability?

tstefan: which bolt pattern would you like? E-brake access hole or not?
You can use the 7.5 inch Toyota diff sleeves solid or crush.

o yah -- sorry
the stock set up please
4 lug with E-Brake

Thanks
would need stock setup with e-brake
The machinist would like to know if the e-brake access hole can be moved outward a bit from the center, and also what a reasonable minimum size for the hole would be.
Yes it could be moved out probably 3mm or even a tiny bit more. Minimum size would need to be enough to install the little spring retainers thru the hole since that is what it is for.
