i would put money on the fact that it is avp23 selling those, he is on this board, i have seen his custom shifter on his car (not sure it is the same design) but it looked good and had a nice feel, he is also a good person to deal with, there is no real benifit to this mod though besides look a less sloppy feel and a bit quicker shift

Someone correct me if i'm wrong...but i don't think you'll get quicker shifter with a 'short shifter'. All you're really doing is shortening the lenth of the shifter, not the throw. So, in essence you are actually making shifting more difficult since you have now lost some leverage with the shorter shifter.

A true 'short throw shifter' actually speeds up the shifts by reducing the actual throw length, not necessarily the length of the shifter.

yup, but since less travel of the hand, technically it makes it shorter movement, thus less distance at the same speed. :?

Melly,

Yep, that is Andrew (avp23) in Kirkland that is selling the shifters.

Up to you if you want to buy them, I'm going to wait for the Jim King shifters. With his, you have the option of either a short height lever, or a stock height lever. Either way, (since this will be Version 2.0), it should be similiar to Version 1.0 & will have a short throw in it (having test driven Jeff Sawyer's 85 that has Version 1.0, I can vouch for this).

Geometry, shortening the height of a shifter WILL decrease the throw, although not as much as a true “short throw shifter”. Think about it, it makes sense, it will however make shifts harder due to the decreased leverage.

The shortened shifter does help, and does not require any noticable effort!

Melly, don't buy one, come over and we'll build it

Drove a Soop the other day with stock shifter-Would not go back-Only reason i changed height was feel/fit of stock shifter was too tall and too long from 4th to 5th for my widdle arms-As slick as the shift is stock, the extra effort is worth it IMO-Mike-
