Has anyoe ever heard of Cutting a Drive shaft and having it brewelded to shorten and then rebalanced?

yep, I have done it several times on my race cars. Find a shop that has done it before, we usually don't rebalance, but for longevity and street use it would be a good idea. The dirt track doesn't care if the drive shaft is vibrating cause everything else is too!!!
