Its black made of sort of a "carpet" type material. I've had it on my car for at least the past 10 years maybe more. It was used when I bought it and it looks like a small section near the top dash vent has been removed but I can't be sure. It stays fixed to the dash if you just stuff the end flaps between the dash and windshield. Its very light, so it doesn't move around and no other tape or velcro is needed. I got a new one as a C-mas gift this year and so I no longer need this, but its still too good to just throw away. Sorry, but I did not take any pics of it installed nor do I have any from over the years, but it does fit and stay secured as stated above without using any tape or Velcro.

I have a couple of these, and so just don't need this one. I removed it from an 85 many years ago, and its been in a box in my closet since. It works, and I've tested it off the car via battery source.
