I've got my dash ripped apart right now attempting to give it a good cleaning and fix the vents.Anyway my automatic air makes that famous clicking sound and have an extra sun sensor.I want to clean contacts that people keep talking about, but If somebody has a picture of where I should give it a claning that would be great. Also did the 82 model have automatic air..with the DVV in it.I took what I thought was a DVV out of an 82 If someone has apicure of that too that would be great. The picture in the Toyota is not clear enough..Thanks

Horrible dash pic

This is a general view of the dash. Maybe some memories will occur  Just let me know if theres anything in particular you want me to get a pic of up close.

I'm very curious myself as well if theres anything else I should do since my dash is out? So far I'm gonna sand the rust on the dash bar and rust prevent it w/ rust encapsulator. Where's the contact for the clicking noise that occurs? Maybe that will be my next pic

The DVV is the part on the left. The Servo is on the right.

Good luck.

Commutator

Hey Mike. I found an interesting post from Eng about cleaning the heater fan.

http://www.celicasupra.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4485&highlight=clicking+heater

Maybe this would be a good time to also clean the commutator  w/alcohol. Then to apply some die-electric grease. But right now I'm trying to learn more about it. (commutator) And what it looks like :?

Oops, I think I realized these aren't even behind the dash :x :pat:

Good find for the clicking noise and what to do http://www.celicasupra.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=899&highlight=clicking+contacts

I notice the other post you found it was the potentiometer. So thats what the pot means. :) Yeah, I found a post from Dave A. who know a great deal. He says to use electric cleaner on the pot. And that the Auto A/C has 2, one as a slide type pot on the temp. control lever.

And the one rotory type pot on the power servo.
