Well, if you were to set both down side by side you would notice a difference. The 89+ is beefier with ribbed runners and the runners them selves are slightly larger. The 87 only has 1 ribbed runner on #4, i think.
I'm not 100% positive about the flow but comon sense would dictate that there is a reason for everything those Toyota Neers do.
There also seems to be a differnce in sound. The 89+ has much more of a header like burble while the 87 sounds bland. One instance of that is Don C.'s 84 with a 89+ motor, crush bent exhaust with stock elbow and flex pipe sounds better than my 87 ported head, manifold, elbow and 3" mandrel bent exhaust. Go figure. :wink:
