ok i have an 85 supra /5m-ge...the balencer and crank are worn..im gonna fix..runs good i think i need injects too.. but a kid i werk with has a buddy that has an 84 / 5m-ge thats been bored out 30 over....all it needs is a head gasket..runs good for a blown gaset... other than that body is ok. one rear 1/4 is rot.. fixable.. oh ya delemma.. my car is loaded. ..leather, cruise didgital gauge....... the 84 not.. so should i git this other car and swap motors... he wants $600 bux.. he cant afford insurence no more.. and, has anyone bored out there engines ..worth it??? THANX

Well, myself having a blown head gasket, I wouldn't buy an engine with another BHG, but if you're into the whole engine thing, I'd personally suggest you go with the extra power, because there's never too much of that good thing. That's my $0.02, probably all it's worth too :wink: Good luck

ya.. i know it seems dumb to buy another"broken" car when i allready have one,"broken", but if i fix both witch will be lots of work but its winter soon..then i can sell one if I can let go...and make some $$$$$

That's what I'm saying, but what I would do is fix the bored out motor, drop it in yon happy car, fix semi-icky car, put semi-icky motor in, fix to not so icky semi-icky, and sell. You catch my drift?

If 84 is stick shift then has 160hp so use whole bottom end, but if 84 is auto, then its only 150hp to start so just use crank and balance. Fix your 85 and either way buy the 84 for parts because Supras are getting scarce in the salvage yards. If you can't keep whole car, store away anything small but potentially useful, flares, taillights, ignitor, alt, pwr str, pwr ant etc. Easily get $1000 or more in small parts off it. Won't earn your money back to fix a rust-bucket - worth much more in parts to you if you plan to keep your 85 for long. MSS to claim another victim soon I fear.....

the 84 is stik....and bored 30 over....and is in good cond....tiny bit o rust.. im reallt surprised hoe good it is.. just needs head gasket.. 5 & 6 no compression

MINE.. the 85.. also good cond...lil tiny rust ..around gas door..just goota fix worn keyway problem. itl be done by fri day, good as new, well close to.. with good balencer..

84- cloth int. non didg gouges. plain....

mine.85-. didg gauges. leather, a/c, power sun roof ect ect..

oh ya.. i got another motor today.. so the other car..i can fix n drive and not have to rip n tear the motor out,for 700$??. thats pretty good.. So that = 2 supras, ill have to sell one thow..

maybe its just me, but id rather have a cloth interior, analog gauges, and no sunroof...
cause then my cars easier to clean, easier to read, as well as rusting and flexing much less. :)

boils down to what you want your car to be :)
and i think all supras came with a/c from the factory, whether or not they still work.

Thanx... i got that 84 too....$ 5oo. i just finished fixing the 85.. damn i hate when my cars fuk up..so now i have both and .. ME = HAPPY GUY.. ( + poor too..hahaha)
