From what I've seen, the 82 and 83 Supras had single tips. 84-86 came with dual tips.
I've also been told that 82-84's had 1 and 7/8 inch diameter piping, whil the 85-86 had 2 inch. That's probably how they went from 160 HP in 84 to 161 HP in 85!!
My 85 had the 2 tips muffler which I threw out because I couldnt see how I could get any airflow through those two little holes (that shrunk smaller in the inside) and it had the 1 and 7/8ths Exaust system...
hmm i have a 85 five speed and it had only a single tip on it but i yanked it off for the sound sounded great till inspection time came around i had to find a muffler and pipe soon so i went to a local junk yard and snagged the pipe from the cat back including the muffler for $30 this piping is two inch whil my other piping was smaller and this muffler had dual tips the ehaust pipe and muffler came off of an 85 just like mine the only diff is that this one was burgundy and it was an auto
i wonder if the location it was sold had anything to do with it or if it could have been something like a package that came with the car o specioal request just something to think about
