hows this thing work? my cars an 83. not getting voltage to the plug to it, and dont know where a switch to it would be(or the fuse for that matter) maybe its the switch thats senses the hood being closed but i didnt really get into it that much. just curious, a cool feature if i can get it to work right
(searched and found nothing on it)

Correct, the engine bay light should only come on if at least the parking lights are turned on. Works w/ the headlights on also.

More FYI trivia. The engine bay light is ONLY a MKI & MKII feature. The MKIII's & MKIV's don't have this. I know of a few MKIII owners who were not happy when I explained this to them,

it took me a while for me to figure out that the lights had to be on, everyone always says now, why doesn't your light work, then i have to turn on the parklights, i've thought about rewiring it....so that it will be on when the hood is up...but i'm lazy....lol....
