I have an 85 with an 82 motor in it. Back in 82 they didn't design for a knock sensor so I have a harness unplugged thats triggaring my check engine lite to come on. My question is...am I lookin at potential engine problems without this sensor hooked up. I don't hear any knockin now and I'm continuing to use Petro-Canada Super Clean 91 Octane.

Lemme kno,

You should not have any mechanical problems due to the knock sensor disconnected. The 82 motor is a lower compression and less prone to pre-ignition detonation. They raised compression in the later model and hence yours had the knock sensor as a precautionary device. All it did was to retard timing if it detected a knock. You'll be perfectly fine. If the ce light bugs you, get a knock sensor, plug it in, and stick it to the block somewhere with a big glob of JB Weld just making sure its grounded of course.
