This is a group buy for fiberglass replacement rocker panel moldings (piece that is probably rusted out between the front and rear flares on your car). The cost will be around $200.00USD give or take $10.00 for the set (that means on for each side  ) plus applicable shipping. For this buy to procede we will need at least 10 prepaid orders. Reply to the poll and once there are 10 orders those wanting the moldings will have to pre-pay and once there are 8 prepaid orders the buy will procede. The poll will close in 35 day so get it while its hot.

1. Who's making it - Carbon fiber FX is my first choice, however they tend to get quite busy. If they cannot do it then the work will be done elswhere at comparative value.

2. Timeframe is to have them shiped within 60 days of recieving the prepaid orders.

3. Funds are in USD.

why don't you make a deal with a shop before you start the group buy. Maybe finalize some details before you ask for peoples money? Get a prototype made, etc. I think your jumping the gun a little here. Your also going to have trouble finding a shop willing to make stuff like this and in such low quantities. I talk to Duane at least once a week. When hes ready for another group buy I'll organize one with him. Sorry if you can't wait for that. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I am only doing this as a result of the interest on the board. I have no personal need for these as I sold my supra(don't worry I'm workin on a supra powered 4runner); if you guys are willing to wait for Duane and Suprafiend is willing to run the group buy I am fine with that. As far as I'm concerned, I'm only doing it for the CS.com members who want it. I'm not looking for power of money out of this  so please don't take it the wrong way. Anyhow, Suprafiend if you want to run it I'm more then happy to let you. As well suprafiend is more then qualified as he is a bonafide (sp) supra fiend (no pun intended) :) . Anyhoo you guys can descide what you want to do.

FYI: I know of at least one custom fiberglass fabricators who would give quality and are more available and cheeper then Duane locally here in Winnipeg.

I wasen't saying don't do it or that I have a problem with you doing it instead of me. Just that your going about it the wrong way. You can't just ask for peoples money up front when you haven't even made a deal with a shop, nevermind produced a single prototype. The price is going to change once they've made a set. If you want to do this go for it, just finalize everything before you ask for money. If you just want to poll to see about how many people would be intestested thats fine, just don't expect all of those that pipe up to actually dish out the cash. My experice has been that about 50 percent actually come up with the cash in the end, thats just how things go. Anyways, good luck with whatever you do.

but your still asking people to commit to ordering a set, without having a deal, a finalized price, a prototype or without even knowing which shop is going to do it (and if). Anyways, I'm not trying to shoot you down, just giving you some advice.

Yeah i would definately like, and need, to see a prototype before I cough up what, $400 total, or $200 per side. Seems kind of expensive for just that little piece of black trim that goes between the wheel flares.

I would definately be interested in a hatch. Even for like $400-600 it would be cheaper than getting custom fiberglass work done to repair the rust thats slowly eating my hatch. Plus I think most people who live in wet climate will need a replacement hatch or repairs at least. Just my 0.02

Brian, they are $200 a SET. Just for informational puposes, I was recently quoted a price of $93 a piece, ($186 PLUS TAX per set) for a set of OE replacements, so the cost here seems comparible and you would end up with a set that would never rust.
I am standing by to see a prototype set finalized and approved, then would be willing to fork over the cash.

Sorry about that but I have come across quite a few threads that looked like they were dormant, but people were just waiting. I had read the thread right through before I posted but wasn't really convinced it was dead.

OK the horse is dead, I can't beat it back to life.
