well, yesterday i cooped myself up in the car while it was raining and installed my deck properly.

i also did a lil trick, going into my computer parts box, i grabbed a fan and some zip ties and anchors.
a lil bit of wiring and a switch from rat shack later, and i have a switched cooling fan for the stereo.

im not sure if any one else had noticed, but i found that my deck gets VERY hot after playing for 20-30 minutes, and now... ive been checking and rechecking, and the thing is cold after the same amount of time or longer.

got some pics of the new deck, and the fan, and a couple of the interior, ill post them up after i get some food in my gullet.

Good job...sounds like a smart move on your part. It's been my experience that "cool electronics are happy electronics" - in the long term you'll probably find that your deck lasts a lot longer too. That's why they put fans on amps too (and inside computer cases). Cars aren't the only things that run better with cool air.

im thinking about putting the exhaust at the top, blowing into the glovebox, and the intake down low, where it is now, right about the tranny tunnel.

i thought i might have problems, as the area around my stick shift gets quite warm, but apparently the area under the radio/dash console is better insulated, as its pretty cool in there.

got the amp wiring halfway done, but im loathe to cut a hole in the carpet, but i cant find one just where i need it, so i guess tomorrow ill go looking, and if not, ill make a lil snip.

after that, its just mounting the amp under the cargo panel, beside the tire, and getting a power distro block.
itll be done, finally :)
