Is there only one fuel filter on our cars? The only one I know of is in tank. I got one the other day and I am sure its not the one in tank. Maybe they gave me the wrong part or something. If there is another filter where is it located.

Thanks,
Mitch

Drivers side of the engine right next to the motor mount. Its got a connection on the top and bottom. Pain in the ass to replace but can be done in about 20 mins.

our car has the fuel filter on the driver side of the engine under the intake manifold.

BTW our car does not have the fuel filter in the tank, what is in the tank is the Fuel PUMP  which is a more $$$ than the fuel filter

How is the best way to get at it? From underneath? It seems feasable to do it from the top, but that bottom nut looks like a real mf to get to..
its much easier to get the fuel pump from the bottom, just be carefull not to get any fuel on your face

On my 83' my fuel pump is external. There is a small plastic wedge shape filter in the fuel line right before the fuel pump and inside the tank there is a plastic filter around the inlet of the fuel line, its just a bag around the end to keep the large chunks out of the line. When i replace my filter I got the top bolt from the top then the bottom from underneath.

Oh is that what that filter is...I thought it was the fuel filter attached to the fuel pump...lol...whoops.

That means my fuel filter hasn't been changed in a very long time...maybe 5 years! How often are you supposed to change it...and what signs would indicate your filter needs replacing?
