This seal is a reproduction of the 85\86 hatch seal. Those years do not use that trim. Any year hatch and glass can run this seal, but you won't be able to use the trim from the early years with it. The purists might have an issue with this, but I think most practical folk will approve as that trim is a PITA to refinish (and it all needs it by now), its not available new and honestly was kind of a dumb idea from the get go. The later seal retains a similar look, without 8 pieces of finicky, plastic coated trim.
Guys...just to give a small update on the weathering characteristics of this seal, it is made of EPDM rubber, which is virtually industry standard for automotive seals.
That being said, we're in the final stages where I'm confirming what it will cost to ship a lot of them here plus costs to ship individual units to Australia. I'm hoping to have that in the next couple of weeks, after that I will put up an official group buy. All I can say from now is I doubt these will be at the extremes of either price point so won't be $160 but wont' be $220 either...will be somewhere in between...just don't know where now!
I'm glad to see this project moving along so rapidly. Regarding the UV protection, is this something you guys can double check with the manufacturer to be sure that they are not skimping on that request? I would feel better if they would address that directly with you guys and reassure that they are applying the correct UV protection additive. Otherwise, I look forward to purchasing this window seal when available!
quick question, does the windscreen use a seal underneath those trim pieces too? or is it siliconed in. i have rust appearing at the top corners of the A pillars which i should get repaired, but if i cant get the trim pieces again (or the clips) its going to suck. anyone know how this could be done?
cheers! getting a fibreglass hatch soon so this seal will suit it perfectly, remove any rust issue, ever!

Well I know you can get what I did done. I got an aftermarket extra-large custom seal and did away with the rubbish trim; it was installed by a windscreen repair place in Sydney.
I can find out exactly what brand/type this seal is if you want so you can have your local windscreen repair place order some in?
Yea you can still get new glass. Just go down your local windscreen repair place and their supplier should have a new windscreen there. They still have them in stock or can order them in.
The machines that they use to make windshields are programmed for the curvature profile and size to cut after bending. No moulds required. So it is no problem to get new windshields, and shouldn't ever be.
Also that rubber seal looks really good. It is hard to get the stock trim in good shape, and it is a bear to install properly.
