Folks;

since Jim can't post a POLL I'm posting this on his behalf...he will be running this group buy. Any and all questions (with the exception of Canadian Shipping) will go through him and here is the text he gave me:

IMPORTANT: Pricing has not been confirmed for condensers. It all depends on how many kits are actually ordered.

Your vote is public. Only vote if you are going to proceed with the buy.
If you voted and fail to proceed with the GB, your screen name will be prominently listed as a no-show.

Features:
o Supports R134a
o Fits either 5M or 7M motor
o Support for 1J/2J motor
o All new parts. It replaces all parts from the firewall evaporator connectors to compressor.
o Most all replacement parts are easily available.
o Engineered for durability, safety and future serviceability.

What you get
o Brand new compressor (5M or 7M configuration only) o For 1J/2J compressors, possibility of a premium rebuilt NipponDenso with external warranty.
o All new hard and soft lines, o-rings and a squirt bottle of Nylog for o-ring sealing o Inline AC filter.
o High / Low pressure automatic cut off switch.
o Spal low profile fan
o Custom Multi-pass parallel flow condenser

Price
o $950US which includes shipping in the lower 48.
o Possibility for Canadian Shipments will go through George(Raptor Racing). Extra fees will apply.

Spare Parts for any existing kit
o Condenser: $115 + shipping
o New Seltec Compressor $250 + shipping

Production Schedule
I can only say that this project would be completed this summer. I’m guessing sometime in August. So you’ll get to enjoy 2-3 months of AC comfort.
Then when it rains, you will have the fastest defogger.

Notes
The price went up for various reasons. Several AC parts suppliers and fabricators I used before are no longer in business.
Plus I have to outsource a good amount of this.

1/2JZ buyers do not get a compressor in this kit. They need to secure their own NipponDenso compressor.

Improvements since last kit
o Revised drier bracket.
o All lines welded (not brazed)
o Improved mating connector between evaporator and EPR.

Voting options
o 5/6M
o 7M
o 1JZ / 2JZ

George,

I was interested when this firs came up 1 (2?) years ago. Now, with the swing in the exchange rate it'll be a lot harder to justify. I presume there's lots of time to weigh in on this poll?

For those with JZ's, it's not entirely clear on pricing. I understand that the JZ kit won't include a compressor... or will, but it'll be a remanufactured unit - not brand new. If you're listing around US$950 for the full 5m/7m kit, is it reasonable to say that a JZ kit with whatever compressor is available (if available) will be around the same price?

So the 2j kit comes with no compressor, so does that mean it is cheaper than the 5m/7m kit that does include a compressor? I have no problem getting a rebuilt compressor on my own.

Edit: Just saw Jims response on the first page. Posted this after only reading the first comment. I may be in, but waiting on a response for something else first.

I would definitely want the spare condenser and hopefully a dryer. I had to have mine repaired (although its still working). For the JZ (or any of them really) is it possible to just get the lines condenser and dryer, basically the mechanical parts only? I never used any of the electrical parts from my original kit.

I too have been waiting for working a/c in my 7MGTE swapped 85 Supra. When may we see additional information on this project along with deposits?

A few things to note. If you look at the previous poll, the numbers are HUGE. Astronomical numbers I've never seen in our community before.

For those of us that have done group buys before, it's like a GB of some holy grail reproduction MK2 parts.
My read of the previous poll is "like" votes.

If numbers show some improvement this month to make this a viable GB, we might be good.

The AC industry starts getting busy in May, so if the deadline gets too far into summer, there can easily be parts shortages. That occurred last time. And I sure don't want to spend my summer working on it.

George offered some social media exposure, which might help the numbers.

It's more like the wrath of GB coordinators. I know that George and myself have been down this road many times before.
It's time that we spend to get suppliers/manufacturers on-board, quotes, etc, then suddenly we've got the world of
no-show, and we can't even get to a minimum production number. Our time is burned, real buyers get nothing.
And it really puts a wet blanket on our motivation to do other GBs.

I got some spare parts from the first GB, so I can supply items to previous GB folks.

I think there's a lesson somewhere for people riding high on the US dollars weakness for 4+ years. :sarcasm:

Be honest with yourself. If you think by, say, end of April, you'd be good to go, then vote accordingly.

how much of this kit is the same between engines ?

What im asking is that if i but the 5/6M kit and decide to switch to a JZ so i need to buy a completely new kit , just the compressor, or a compressor plus a few new parts ?

Thanks
