For these old cars your options might be a little limited for the airbag setup or even the coil overs
For coilovers stance has a set for our cars now
In general you will have more options for the front setup compared to the rear as it is a trailing arm design.
A good spring shock combo might be fine for a drift beater. The main issue you might have is steering angle which is crap on the MKII

Make sure the suspension and tie rod ends are solid and that you have a reliable engine and a decent clutch. Then go to your nearest parking lot and set up some shopping carts and practice. You dont need upgrades I dont think.
