Shop?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!????????????????????

You're basically purchasing the indiglo faceplate itself, it replaces the one that is currently in your instrument cluster.

Remove cluster from the dash (online TSRM has instructions for this), carefully remove the plastic clear cover on the cluster, remove instrument needles, remove faceplate. Reassemble.

I read this on a Supra site and it worked rather well in my AE86...
If you don't like having green guages, you can change it rather cheaply.
It cost me $6.50 to change my green guages to a more stylish blue. They're not as bright as before (I used blue glass bulbs instead of white bulbs with sleeves), but it looks alot better at night.
All you have to do is pull the cluster and peel the green sleeves off the bulbs in the back. It's not hard, and it gives a semi-custom look.

Have to agree with that; I changed my dash to blue, and I love the way it looks at night. Was also disturbingly easy to do (if only it hadn't led me to think, "wow, this was easy, why don't I restore/customize the ENTIRE interrior" :pat: )

Dash lights

I just replaced my bulbs with blue LED's. They don't seem to be as bright though. It is harder to see the odemeter but other than that they look cool. It was alot cheaper than buying a new face. By the way has anyone seen the reverse glow's installed?

Most of these kits work without removing the needles. I've heard that if you do sometimes you have to recalibrate the instraments.

little condoms

I was reading on Dean's website about that on changing the 194 LED bulbs to any color behind the gauges, was wonderin if you have to use those little condoms(sleeves) over the bulbs? Too bright?

Danny,

When I changed out my speedometer cluster, I took the sleeves off. Nice and bright and looks a lot better IMO than green does. If you're looking for a different color, you should be able to get different colored sleeves from an autoparts store (maybe). I seem to remember someone on the forum said they found them at Advance Autoparts or Kragen/Schucks.

Gauges - Will They Work?

I noticed that the after market gauges had round holes for the speedo and tach to go through were as our gauges use a rectangular pattern.

Although I'd love to have a reverse glow gauged instrument cluster in my car I don't think it would work. Is the round hole made for a eurpoean Supra?

Let me know if you guys find out differently.

82mph Cluster

I like the selection at SPEEDHUT and want to do this too w/a 130mph cluster. But heres a PIC of mine from my 82. Its only a 85 mph, but I don't think that matters on the round piece we're talkin about. It appears I have that rectangular piece too if you look closely at the tachometer

I believe it should just evenly fit in w/the rectangular piece w/a new round appearance. Not really sure though, I haven't attempted it yet :?

Re: 82mph Cluster

Once the indiglow overlay is installed over the guage face, that rectangular piece will be completely hidden. The indiglow material is flexible enough so that you wont have any problems with fitment, and you shouldnt be able to see that theres anything protruding from there.

Dash lights

Just a heads up. I replaced my instrument lights with blue LED's but switched them back to green because I couldn't change the color of the lights in the cruise and defrost pods because they are green LED's from the factory. I'm not sure if all MK II's are the same but that is how my 85 is. They stood out from the rest of the lights and now once again everything matches inside.

OK can someone please tell me where else can I find the lightbulb sleeves/ condoms? I tried Radioshack, Advanced Auto Parts, other auto parts, and no one has a clue what I'm talking about. Plus people look at me weird when I say "lightbulb condom" LOL
I'd like to change mine to blue, but can't figure out where to get the sleeves at!!! help~! :(
