I finally got my car running, she had been sitting for 11 months, but now everything is together the headlights are not coming up. If the battery is low and the alarm goes off they come up and down, but I go to turn them on and they don't come up, but they do come on. So I have to manully wind them up. Has anyone had this problem. Please help!

mine did this too after sitting a while, only
instead they wouldn't come down. I'm not sure
if there's an after effect, BUT check the 2 fuses for
the motors one for up and one for down. They should
both be in the drivers side kick panel. If bad,
replace it, or if it's good just pull it out. i did and they
work fine now.

Hope that helps.

They are both linked to the same fuses; the haz-horn fuse under the hood, and one in the kick panel (don't remember which at the moment). I blew the 1st one of those when I was installing my stereo (teach me to watch them live wires  ), and the headlights would go down, but not up. HTH

Could that be the reason one would go down but not up? My right one does that.
your little cam action arm thingy (damned if i know the right name :p) has probably come loose, or theres a problem with the wiring for the right headlight.

try cranking it up by hand, and if you crank and it doesnt come up, it looks like your going to have to get in there, and theres a threaded rod with lil ball cups on each end.
remove that.
theres a cam arm bolted to the motor, and it seems like they decide to come loose every now and then.
all you need to do is to hold it in the upright position, then tighten the bolt.
reconnect and reassemble everything...

if this isnt a good enough description, try a search, as i know ive explained it in detail at least once before.

and turbosupra, there is a plug for the motor, but i think it also controls the lights lighting up.
iirc, last time i looked, it was a white plug, with about 5 wires in it, and i unplugged them on my parts car cause the lights were iced up and would have burnt out the motor otherwise.

Theres a red/white striped wire that goes to the headlight control relay on the right side of the engine bay (on the passenger inside fender). That wire splits and goes to the foot panel fuse box and next to the battery. Check this wire for voltage and if the one next to the battery is connected properly. If not connect it to the positive of your battery. For some reason Ive seen this wire disconnected on 3 supras including mine.

I tried those things and now the headlight went down and won't come up by cranking it. When I plug it in and try to move it(by control not by hand) it makes a growling like sound. I think the motor is bad.

does it spin the knob in your hand when you turn it?
if it does, i dont think your motors gone, i think you might have the problem with the cam arm being loose.

if it were me, id take the thing apart and try that before shelling out for a new motor.

I USED THE SEARCH FUNCTION AND IT WORKED!!!
lol
yeah I had to use search today b/c my friends SDR has been having problems w/ its headlights lately. so I looked it up here and it struck me when the other night I pushed the horn and there was nothing there...I had forgotten about it until today, and sure enough, his haz/horn fuse was blown. I replaced it now everything works great, even the headlights!
Thanks for the suggestions all, I'd have never thought about that
