I had ordered some bearing for my 5mge rebuild. I ordered the kit for the 84-85 engine. The kit I recieved had a large #1 bearing, while I needed the thinner one.... I have a 85 Supra, so thats sort of weird. Is there a place where I could buy only one bearing? I was also wondering, is there a serial number somewhere on the engine to see if I have a 85 engine with more power, or the one prior to that with less?

The thinner #1 is for an early engine - like my '82. I don't know when the change to the wider bearing was made but I'm pretty sure the 85s had them.

If you have one good bearing pair from the old set (plastigauge all of them to be sure) you could re-use that pair but don't put the used set at the #1 because there's lots of load there therefore Toyota's change to a wider bearing.

Just my:twocents:

Problem is the crank has been reground:censored: Anyway, bought new bearings. See For Sale thread if anyone wants to buy the other brand new ones : 0.50 mm on the rods, 0.25 mm on the mains.
