this little dude right here screws into the coolant passage and has two vacuum lines running off of it... somewhere into the engine. on my 82, the two nubs where the vacuum lines fit onto it are sheared off, thus, the vaccum lines are not attached (and are looped back, somehow).

basically, what does this plug/temp sensor do... and how badly is it affecting me to not have it?

maybe that's why the engine runs like crap...

Vacuum valve for the charcol canister. It vents gas vapor from the tank into the intake at certain temps, its an emissions item. The car will run just fine without it.

No, Its an entirelly seperate system. If you want to disable the EGR plug the vacuum line going to the valve.
