OK heres the deal, my fiancé got a speeding ticket on the 405 :pat: , CHP said she was doing 80, of course she says she wasnt bla bla bla; Anyway, the officer gave her a ticket but didnt mark anything in the box for radar/paced. I seem to remember hearing that if this isnt marked the ticket can be throw out if we contest the ticket, is this correct? (Im not sure if it matters but the ticket was issued in California.

Any other insight as to how we can get out this ticket; or I guess any advice towards getting out of any kind of ticket (because Im sure we all have a ticket or two; or 10 in our glove boxes)

Also for information about getting out of tickets (especially those pesky stoplight cameras) check out http://www.ticketassassin.com

Thanks everyone!!!

Easiest way to get out of a ticket is to not get one. Being respectful to the officer, apologizing for the error, you are very sorry, asking him or her if they can give you a break...etc. This has gotten me out of nearly a dozen tickets. But, if you do get one, follow Chris's advice. Put in for a formal hearing, don't mess around with an informal hearing/magistrate...you've got about a 5% chance of winning with a magistrate. However, with a lawyer, he will negotiate with the assistant Prosecuting Attorney to avoid having you waste the judges time. You will usually get off scott-free, or may have to pay the fine...in the worst case scenario. Oh yea, it pays to have lawyers for friends, especially ones who used to be Prosecuting Attorneys!

either dont get one, become friends with cops, fight it, or have a lawyer/ticket service handle it.

well, first off, dont ask for a break. ive been pulled over about 40 times and have gotten 3 tickets. first one was running a redlight which i didnt do. i stopped and made a turn on red(i was 17) second i was pulled over for speeding(should have gone to jail that night) but before getting pulled over, raced a supercharged neon and chirped the tires, no seatbelt, cracked windsheild, no exhaust, no ins. info on me or registration(i had left it at home) and lots of other crap. anyway, i admitted to everything as i always do and the cop was freaked out. he couldnt beleive i told him and even stuff he wasnt gonna get me for. i got a $60 for careless driving(chirped the tires when i left the intersection racing the neon) then the third i had got pulled over cause my friend wasnt wearing his seatbelt and i got a ticket for a craked windsheild. ($60). so, always tell the truth, if you lie it pisses them off and they get back at you by writing a ticket. pulled over 40 times, only 3 tickets.

Well, I got my first when I sped down a street right off the exit from a highway (whoops, too used to 75) and ended up losing 75.00. Went right out and got a radar detector, never had any probs/close calls since. Not a cheap whistler or cobra one, the biggest belltronics one there is (forget the #).

Best advice for getting out of a ticket is to tell the cop that pulled you over that you were paying attention to your lane and surrounding traffic you just didn't remember the speedo. It tells the cop you are a good driver but messed up a little, and that seems to help everyone that's used it. I used it for mine and while I did get a fine, the guy said I was only 5 over on the paper so it didn't go on my record & insurance rates.

It doesn't help with your current situation, I know, but to anyone else reading the thread it may be a little useful :)

you should carry a picture of the kitty in the exhaust pipe in your wallet and show it to police officers. That should soften up their hearts. :)
