On my way home late one night, I get passed by a huge silver Mercedes. So I give chase and catch up to him at the next light. I want to smoke this rich guy in his car right? As we leave the light, I have the jump on him. Stupid me didn't notice the little emblem on the fender that said "V8 COMPRESSOR" until he was passing me. He went by me like I was chained to a post! I still am not sure what model it was, but it was the biggest Mercedes that I've ever seen. Keep in mind that my car is not slow, I usually beat the average street racers. This thing was fast.
To make myself feel better, I raced a 240sx that was built up, killed it no problem. Damn it, now I'm going to have to get a bigger turbo.

SL/CL/CLK

I think you just raced a SL/CL/or CLK 55 AMG. Do you know these are faster than the new Ferrari Modenas  And cheaper too. Not that the $80K plus matters :p

OK, I went and grabbed the Sep 02 Motor Trend. And it has a race, the Austin Martin DB7, BMW Z8, Ferrari 360 Spider, and the Mercedes SL-55 AMG. And beats them all. With the 493-hp waffle iron MT says

Its Supercharged, intercooled rated at 476 DIN horepower in Euro trim.
The US version will be rated at 493 hp. Torque-516 ft/lbs show up at just 2650 rpms. The blower is a heliptical screw-type unit connected to the crankshaft via a V-belt and electromagnetic clutch: and 5 speed auto trans w/biomodal TouchShift function.

I think this is what got ya up there in wonderful Vegas, where I soon shall be :D

Jim-
Yeah, effortless 12s with those babies, Mercedes has really uped the ante for the supercars...guess they were tired of seeing the Audo and BMW taillights...so they went overkill!

i'm in love with the mercedes s-600 biggest god damn sedan i've ever seen with badass cross drilled rotors. didn;'t think much of it til i saw the twin turbocharged v-12 under the hood. then i creamed my pants. too bad they wouldn't let me start it lol. 493hp at 5k and 590 ft lbs of torque from 1600-3800. sounds PLENTY badass to me. and all that giving it a 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. wipe the FLOOR with my cressida lol. i guess i need a northstar XV-12 engine. N/A making 750hp. or the cadillac 16 making 1000hp N/A

yeh many mercedes are nasty and "detuned" to prolong tranny life. I have heard rumurs of s600's with over a 1000 hp, and I have seen a video of one doing a burnout on a dyno. My god, I assume you have all seen the AMG commercials, there truely is a beast inside.

If I have one rev at me I would, pull over turn off the car and line up next to him and start running. At least I would have a better chance.

Stock isn't working out for me,
Mitch

If it was a BIG mercedes, it was probably an E55 AMG. 450 Bhp. high 4's, low 5's 0-60.

theres a video of one killing an 04 cobra. I love that video :)

"Smoke these rich bastards?" Go read the statistics on a stock AMG. (www.mbusa.com)

Much less, something that has been tuned:

Granted, they're not in the same class - but i'm pretty sure it would destroy even a heavily tuned 7M

Damn! They stuff a V12 in that car? That must be one huge car, then! The hood doesn't look all that long, but there's nothing in the picture to compare to. What's the displacement on them V12's? (Yeah I'm too lazy to find for myself.)

theres some bmw v12's that are in the 5L to 5.6L range (different variants) that i am told are only 26"s long, so ya, a v12 i'm sure could easily fit in there. not to mention it probably sits back quite a bit to keep the weight behind the tires for better handling. My dads new truck the motor sits half under the dash it seems.

Yeah the new Fords (is that what your dad's truck is?) suck for working on because the engine is under the cab, not under the hood. Well, almost.
OK so under 6 liters of displacement...that's small pistons/cylinders, then. But smoother power, probably, eh? (Yes, I'm Canadian.)

I have a recent Automobile magazine article where a guy took a stock AMG SL65 to the track and was running 11's. The track guys freaked cause they said he needed a roll bar and parachute (LOL). Not bad for a 600 hp cruiser.

These cars launch so well with their 6 and 7 speed automatics; all current AMG cars are insanely quick (like the stock AMG E55 Wagon that runs mid 12's).
