Jim King - The GOD of the Mk II Celica Supra!

I just have to rave about JDK.

I just got back from taking my car out for a quick late summer drive. It now has a JDK front Big Brake Kit and a JDK Short shifter on it.
I got feeling frisky with it and the experience is in another league to that of my stock Celica Supra. The transmission now shifts so easily it DEMANDS brisk driving, pulling more serious revs. I would end up having to get down from speed and I would lay on the brakes like I would a 30 year newer car with ABS. It just pulled the car down with a feeling of utter confidence.

I have managed to snag an almost unused JDK air conditioning upgrade kit third hand that was missing the installation manual. I put the word out and who comes to the rescue? The man himself, Jim King.
I have never had the pleasure of dealing with Jim directly so for him to come to my assistance is SO generous.

Hopefully he will come out with something new and needed. The design work he puts into these kits is breath taking. I believe Jim used to sell a 7MGTE swap into Mark II's when this swap was popular.

I just have to thank him for being involved in the Celica supra community.

Thank you Jim.

Can confirm that the brakes and short shifter changes the experience drastically :D
We're going to have to get the cabin doors widened up at the Tail of the Dragon so Jim can fit his big head through it next spring...

LOL (Yep, he's definitely a benefit to the community!)

What I just HAVE to know is what kind of background he has. The things he has designed are all different, but all very well engineered.

I don't want to embarrass him or ask anything that he wants to keep private, but for instance, the rear BBK brake drums/caliper adapters must have been incredibly difficult to design. I would love to hear the story about how they came to be. As time marches on, a lot (most) of the younger forum members don't know anything about him.

Oh, and if you have Jim design the cabin door widening, I'll bet it would be super well done!
