Monday heading home from work i had my self some lunch, a riced out RSX. AS i was waiting to turn left on an intersection (one of those with two left turning lanes) a black sticker'd out dropped tin can with body kit pulls up next to me. We where waiting to turn, light turns green and i let him pull since its on of them tricky turns. I begine pacesing him, i was on 3rd gear side by side when he hits it so i do too. I continue to pull, he then downshifts to no avail. We approche traffic so that was the end of that. He stayed well behind me for a good 3 miles. I think that RSX was the base model not the RSX S-type.

nice kill... :)

rsxs seem to have this misconception that theyre fast, cant remember what a type s runs, but im pretty sure its in the 16s anyways, lmao.

i dunno, i just keep thinking how fast/nice i could make a supra if i spent 30k on it, versus buying a new car.

:werd: :patriot: Even 10K into a mk2 would work, well for me at least. Too bad I dont have that kind of money

30k in a mk2? damn it better have gold plated wheels and run 8s in the 1/4 hehI don't figure you have to spend all THAT much to get a quick mk2, it just depends on how you want to do it
I'd like to find out more info on Russ Ms. 9 second mk2, all I know is it is ( or was ) 5MGTE w/ 700+hp, but I'd like to know exact dyno #s, estimated cost of that whole car, etc...

A chipped RSX will run a mid-low 14s. A 5m runs 16s typically. A 6m may run high 14s. At any meet, mk2s (even 7m turbos) run in the 14s.

The RSX typeS with a chip dynoes 190 to the wheels...look out they are quick.
yah, at 7000 RPM, we have the torque they don't. If it wasn't for the cam shift the car would be as useless as the S2000 without the shift.

So what time did your 7m run at a national/regional Supra meet?

Not mine.
my best was a 13.4. The others were 13.6, 13.8 and one 15.3 run when my clutch went bye-bye and slipped the entire way down the track. This was on crappy street tires @ 8psi. IMO, most 7mgte MKIIs should be into the 13s if they have a good 3" exhaust system, w/ 3" elbow and a good driver.

On a side note to that meet, there were 2 MKIII Ts that were running 17 and 18 second 1/4 mile times along with a 420?rwhp BPU+ MKIV that ran a 14sec along wit some mid-13s.

Just goes to show that Wade can drive. :)

The car that you're talking about running 14s was Stu's right? His son ran a 12.4 ? as well in it. Tires were S03's.

No, it was that baltic blue color. I can't remember his name.

Stu's car is very nice and very fast but could have been faster, like 11s. After watching his race video I was dying to say something about the launching technique used. Rather than rev to 4000 and dump the clutch he should have ridden the shit out of it all the way thoug first gear. So many people are in a hurry to get the clutch out and as a result bog and spin off the line. You will never bog riding the clutch and it lets you govenor your wheel spin so you're on the razor edge of what your tires can hold. I really wanted to comment on the Stu video but my comments wouldn't hold any water unless I had a MKIV too. ;)

Let's see... Baltic Blue???

That means it was either David Engel, or Dr Mike. And I don't remember seeing Dr. Mike at PR that night, so it was probably David.

WHats so great about an RSX? Even Ive beaten an RSX-S. :p and yes it was a race, he had the tires spinning like crazy.......and this was on the way to the drag strip! (was closed when we got there) I wasn't too impressed with the car. Sure they may look kinda cool, and sound neat under underpasses and in tunnels with V-Tec, but, if I was gonna pay that kind of money......it would have to be on a Supra! No doubt in my mind. By the way, I let a friend ride in my green Supra, he loved it so much, he bought my old white one! I told him he didn't really want to ride in it, especially on curvy roads with me driving! I'm sure gonna miss that car..... But, I got enough money to get me some eibach springs, not just ordering them...............
