ok here it is: i had just purchased my 86 supra and had it for about 3 weeks i had cleaned the engine compartment and replaced a fuel dampner, silicon vacume lines and cleaned out the trottle body. Then i moved on to cleaning and waxing the body. this car has original paint and was in great condition. So here is where the real story starts: two of my friends and i pull up to our school and just as we were leaving i hear a loud crash and see this piece of shit geo slammed into my rear side panel the one just behind my door and now the door dosent open and my original paint is screwed. He wasent even looking as he pulled out and just floored it. the dent is about 2 and a half inch deep and about 1and a half foot wide. very little to nothing happed to his car THis kid dosent have insurance and has to pay me almost 2 grand from his pocket. The thing is he was gitting mad at me because i took it to a good body shop and dosent want to pay the larger amout it will take to get a quality job; in addition i wont have a car for almost a month due to the body shops busy schedule needless to say i am pissed

Driving with out insurance? NAIL HIM TO THE WALL!!! and if he doesnt pay then sue him to. Teach him what responsibility is since his parents didnt  Also suggest that he pay for a rental car until yours is fixed.
why should you be with out. I would suggest commandering his car but you probably wouldnt want to be seen in it after driving in the Supra
Are you sure your neck isnt sore

That sucks. And I hope he learned his lesson about driving without insurance. Also, I don't think he has any right to be mad at you for going to a good body shop. I'm sure he'd want his Geo to go... er, um, well, if he had a Supra, I'm sure he'd want it to go to a good body shop too!

If he continues to be an ass sue him its his faul in every way.
1. He was uninsured
2. It was his fault
3. Insurence wise it was his fault since the was the one who hit.

that sucks man.
If he doesnt want to pay up, get your insurance involved and sue him for the amount of the damage then he'll get his license suspended (a year in Ca, dont know about other states) and he'll have to pay you the damages.

What a POS! If he gave me that kind of attitude, I'd make him pay for the body work and then turn his ass into the cops and my insurance company. He is the reason that all of us in Cali have to pay extra money for uninsured motorists. :x

Best of luck to you.

man... that's always been my worst fear: car wreck with the uninsured. It happened to me before, but it was a guy rear-enging me at about 5 mph, so not even a paint scratch. But here in Oklahoma, 2 outta 3 drivers don't have insurance. Always a thought when I see a crazy driver.

Maybe you should also demand the right to push his metro off a cliff. I bet you'd feel much better after that.

yeah thats a good suggestion about the rental car. he would probibly start crying if i told him that, and now hes looking around at other shops and expects me to take my car there and have it looked at according to his schedule, i am getting sick of him hes acting like such an ass. like he looks and the dent and all trys to convince me its not that bad. And look i cant even open my door. If i get any more lip from him i am ganna treaten to sue him

It sounds like youve been nice enough. Its time you explained how things work. Definetly mention the legal aspects of this. Have the police been involved? If not it may be time to suggest letting them handle it

Tooth,

I'd try and reason with him using pressure from the rental car idea....just one last time because we're all nice people right? However, if the situation is beyond your patience already:

 Fuck it. Report that guy to your insurance company and get yourself a nice rental car at his expense.

Something else to keep in mind: A freshly painted passenger side just won't blend into a 17 year old paint job. I guess that they're going to have to paint the entire car so it matches the new body work. Ooops on his part.

Good luck to you. -Jason

This may be a dumb suggestion, but have you considered bringing this matter to his parents attention...how old is this kid. I know if my old man ever found out i did something like that(when i was younger) he'd have his boot so far up my @$$ i'd be tasting leather the rest of my life.

I agree with everyone, this isn't a time to take shit. He has no negatiating rights what-so-ever. If i were him i'd be thankful that you didn't report this and pay whatever i had to.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

really he should be thankfull i have been as cooperative as i have, we have talked to his parents they are making them pay out of his pocket, they are just looking for the cheap way out, they have 7 kids and the father works at a state prison needless to say that he isnt wealthy.

arnt paint jobs pretty expensive? as in like 2000$$ + i know this kid will have a heart attack when i demand this, but now the thing is the insurance companys will only pay so much before they want to total the car. cheap bastards and one of the shops i went to said that the repaire costs go over the amount the requires to be totaled

hmm, that whole situation sucks.
you choose the shop, for a factory like paintjob.
but just remember, your supra will look BEAUTIFUL afterwards.

and promise me you'll run him over for driving without insurance.... Ill do it for you, but not in my car, Id have to use something along the lines of a clown car... a geo metro maybe?

happy free new paint job add_tooth

yeah the paint job i had on that car is a metal flaked silver with a clear coat, thats an expensive paint job, and hay after haveing that paint i am not going to go back to a cheapy. O and how would you guys feel about having a bondo job on your supra?? i dont like the thought at all. This kid thinks that the total amount of money the work is ganna cost is going to be under 1000$$ i keep on telling him that its going to be over 2000$ and he just wont take me serious. Once i get my brake pads on i should be on my way to getting the car fixed.

O and have any of you guys used black bumper( its like a plastic refinish
) on the front bumper i am thinking about painting it with that and doing a clear coat do you think that will work :?:

it sounds like you have to get a quote from a reputible body shop for the paint that you want and show the guy. otherwise hes going to find a "guy who knows a guy who knows a guy" deal and it will take forever.

I know what you mean expensive paintjob... mine is a charcoal metalic silver base/clear with a silver metalic two tone base/clear... I did all the prep and bodywork and it came out to $600. but a seperate clearcoat paintjob will run a lot more, not to mention bodywork that dosent involve 3 gallons of bondo.

any quotes I got from bodyshops were $2000 or more cnd dollars.

my paint looks good, but nothing beats a seperatel clear.
