Wingnut,

I am seling my Supra. If you dont want the Turbo kit or stereo I will sell it for $2900. Check my sig for details and also my post in the for sale section. I'm in Portland.
Mid 80's bimmers.....hmmmm.....testing the memory banks here.

Stay away from the 1.8 liter 4 bangers - pitfully slow. If you can get one with the 2.5 liter 6 instead of the 2.7 do that. The 2.7 "eta" engine was a low power, high torque economy motor that reved only til about 4,800 rpm. The later 2.5s had nice high reving, 168hp engines and were fast - faster in a straight line than a stock Mk2 as they weigh under 3,000 lbs.

Like an old Mk2 - be prepared to sepnd zillions $$$$ on parts. The cars are pretty well built though. The M3 models (87-89) were pretty badass - 192 hp from a 2.3 liter 4 banger and all those wings and ground effects. My buddy had one. You could probably buy 2 nice MK2's for one of those.

That is my $0.02.

Beemers are great cars if they are in good condition. If you buy something that needs work plan on spending $$$$$$$$. Unless you are mechanically inclined I would go with the MKII. They are older just like the Beemers but parts aren't that expensive. Also if you do take it somewhere, the mech. won't start to salivate at the site of the Beemer. I think MKII's are easier to work on, I've had two, and currently am looking for my third as a second car. The years are the same; 82-86,86-92. I know someone with a 86(my bro) and even though it's in good shape expensive problems pop up.
My friend had a 3 series from the mid eighties, wasn't as nice as my car or as fast... looked terrible and always was breaking down... my suggestion is that if you can't find a Supra but want something in the GT type maybe look for a 300z, those are pretty easy to find and are pretty nice, don't look as cool as a Supra but y'know, they're still nice.
well 1smoth i know thats why i asked it in the "general" section and u know im willing to bet other pple have had or know someone who had a old series so i though t ide ask dude

the supra isnt god gift to u dude

cst dude i need a job right now otherwise i would but mayby this summer we will see if u still have it i just dont have the cash at the moment just pondering on differnt cars

with datsuns i hated the newr 300z i only like the 70's 240's and 280's otherwise they are way ugly

Cool website. I believe those are European spec figures.

My favorite sedan happens to be the BMW 5-series - 540i six speed or M5.

One of those would like nice in the garage (next to an Mk2 of course). :)

yeah see 5 series is to big imo i want to go with 2 doors as well my audi has 4 and only 2 of em work good(old audi thoinng) so i figuer 2 doors less and 2 windows less mean less shit to o wrong(my window regulator failed to so i have no pass window up front) and plus i really like smaller cars(no big cars and trucks here to compensate im happy with a small car) :p
If you are looking at Beemers, you may also want to consider the first generation Acura Legends, built from 86-90. You can get them in 4 door or 2 door coupe models. Coupes were rarer, probably accounting for about 25% of total sold. A few even have 5 speed trans, but they are pretty rare. I've got a 1990 coupe and it's been a very good car. Good power, very good handling for a FWD car, excellent highway cruiser, very solid and quiet. All came with 24 valve V6 which seem to be reliable motors. 86-87 had a 2.5 liter, 88-90 had 2.7 liter.
When they first came out, they aimed to compete directly with BMW's. JDPower surveys ranked it number one for a few years running. They called it "A better built BMW". Pretty high praise.

They can be picked up pretty cheap now so you may want to consider them.

By the way, I almost bought an Audi GT Coupe instead of my Supra back in 1988. Love the styling of those cars. Must be that wedge/angular look that appeals to me. :)

I can attest to the power of that acura :x gave my mk2 more than a run for it's money  ...Dean...am i off the list yet :?:
yeah thing is tho i really dont want a fwd car and i want a 2 door

and yeah the gt coupe is my car only fwd and with a slopeing back very nice looking but not quattro so i allso am not a big fann of honduh/acura i know they are well built cars tat run a damn long time but in terms or japinese imnports ide rather stay nissa/datsun and toyota since they actually have rwd cars

bmw's apeal to me since i can get parts at cost and i know the bmw tech at my local german auto dealers so i can get good advice plus use there lifts and tools on some weekends so upkeep wouldnt be bad
Doesnt that 2.7 have a 4,500 RPM red-line??
Yes! It made 121 hp and 170 ft. lbs ot torque. Gas mileage motor. That was the famous mid 80's 325e. Engine was also in the 5 series at the time - 528e.

I know you are an M3 fan Mr. Malloy!

Phil G.
well mayby it will be the 2.5 i want eh

but good news a guy came into the dealr yesterday and is selling his black on black 1993 325i for 2k thing is needs a new fender and hood but i dont mind till i have the mony to fix it and i may know a lady who wants my audi for her doughter so well see how thsi gfoes

If any bimmer, go with the nicer 325i or the M3, they both look magnificent. You would get way more looks though with the 1st gen M3. They get just as much looks as the new one, and they come stock with that cool looking wide body kit and a weird back trunk. They are sick. But since its for summer, just get a motorcycle. They are badass on gas, and, they are fast, and you could die on one real quick.

just my $.02

cheers
Depending upon how much you have to spend, a better car would be a 92+ 325is. The M50 engine uses single VANOS on the intake side to smooth idle. I did some looking into BMW's after my chances with a Celica Supra for my project fell through (more problems than I expected).

If you want a strong BMW then pick up any late 80's 3 or 5 series with a small motor, and then swap in a 3.4L or 3.5L I6, or just get a 535Csi or 635Csi. Many 3,5 and 6 series parts are interchangable and the same is true today. Me, personally, I'm trying to talk a friend into buying a 318is and letting me shoehorn a built 750iL motor under the hood.
ide like to get a moterscycle in fact i just might butt i have a nice drive and the pple on the highway i drive are asshole so a bike is a bad thing sometimes

ide love a e30 m3 just they are hard to find and kinda outta my pricerange
