Okay,

Someone just shoot me now if this has been already covered in the past.. I checked all of the old posts & didn't see anything resembling this.

The topic of "repeat/repetitive" questions has come up again... (see my last reply in the General forum section).

Is it possible to put a posting in EACH of the seperate forums that get's repeat questions all of the time & have it pointing to a link to the Search page??? And make this a sticky????

If this is a PITA, no probs, I understand....

Just today alone, I saw 3 "repetitive/repeat" questions in 3 different forums (What is the best type of wheel to get in a 15 - 17" size, What is the best type of lowering spring to get for XXX" drop, What is the difference between a P-Type vs. a L-Type). Yes, the long timers here know that this is getting old.... :p :p

Just a thought.... :bonk: :banghead: :bonk: In the meantime, I'm still trying to be patient w/ the newbies...

While I appreciate the fact that a link to search "could" be at the top of every forum page...the question remains...

"Would the Newbies actually use it?" -- It's difficult to say.

Considering the fact that the search link is at the top of the page (just below the header) really should be sufficient enough. We're just going to have to keep "educating" new people as they ask these questions.

Malloy? Quick? Everyone....what do YOU think about putting a redundant link to the search function at the top of every forum section? I honestly don't have the time to write up an FAQ that is forum specific, so unless someone wants to step up to the plate...it's not gonna happen.

a happen.
Sidman...i think you hit the nail on the head on that one. Just yesterday I pointed a 'newbie' to the search button when he asked some 5/6mgte q's. That same person was the one who Chris had to 'educate' again today(PType q). It seems no matter how hard we try...old habits die hard

I think no-matter what is done, a person will always go through the path of least resistance...and that is: ASK First. Although Chris' idea has some merit, i think it will only help out on a small percentage of the newbie questions.
Ok...

The search icon is an animated gif now:

If this doesn't get the attention of our newbies, then I have no idea what will.
See less See more
Took me a couple minutes to find it.No animation, had to look back at this post to figure it out :(

Shawn-Who just started ignoring newbie reposts,so I don't get in trouble for my attitude.
Nope,just a little magnifying glass,still.
Shawn...

I can see it on my end, and so can Malloy - and we're on opposite ends of the US. Your cache in your browser likely needs to be dumped.

In Internet Explorer: Tools / Internet Options / "delete files" button.

In Netscape: Edit / Preferences / Advanced / Cache / "clear cache" button.

That should do the trick.
I see it, thats sweet....its quite funny...

How about making it a bit bigger for them to see it, just my .02 cents
