I see the problem with going to one of the other big brake solutions... the caliper mounts are very different from the Mk2 Supra. It looks like you have a good solution for testing. With decent pads, steel lines and good brake fluid they should be fine until you're ready for Wilwoods.

Any suggestions (for/against) any particular set of Cressida pads?

This week I 3D printed a bracket to mount the Cressida caliper to keep moving forwards and do more test fitting. It works and is close enough that I now have to make it out of 3/16" steel like the original bracket. I've got the top of the piston sitting tangent to the OD of the rotor. Every caliper I've used previously used that to properly locate the pad to the rotor when mounting the caliper. I will just have to work on centering it over the rotor with washers.

Hawk HP+ would be a decent starting point. From there you can decide what your needs are; better initial bite, higher temperature, long life, etc.
