Hello there fellow Supra owners and such.

Picked this car up a few weeks ago? A good friend of mine, Quinn was in need to get rid of it, i had always fancied one, so we exchanged money for car and whola. Under Quinn's ownership a few things were fixed and changed, not too much.

After i received it, I checked the fluids, cleaned the interior, replaced the battery, removed the cassette deck, fixed the heater flapper door that was stuck closed, installed my Nardi Wood Wheel and Shift Knob. Removed the rear wiper, gave er a wash, packed it full of tools and fluids and headed to the track today.

Took it to its full track day under my ownership. Had a blast, it was a bloody hoot in stock form. 30 something year old bushings totally shot. a 80% working diff, decent clutch, totally burnt out catalytic convertor, much sulphur smell :/ broke the muffler at the back off and a pipe it was attached to. driver seat broke mid drift...on a few occasions til i got a set of vice grips to hold the flanges in the corner together. ebrake works fantastic, no tire changes today as it was very wet. much fun was had, hope to have footage soon, would be a nice memento.

going to be ordering coilovers in the new year. have watanabes on order, going to remove the ac bits in the front, take out vacuum parts that are not needed. going to price out and try to get my exhaust bits in order tomorrow and start workin on that mess, should be fun...exhaust work is always the worst. having a lot of fun with this car so far, very interesting and slightly complex?

i just love these things, shear hilarity and 80s porn star's.

this is one of my favourite MA61s. such presence. much wow

nope. stock motor with a front facing manifold, i want to keep it simple. i have a 1jz cressida and a sr s13 that i make power with.
the 82 P Type is quite rusty, but id like to paint it at some point. i like simple things. a 5M is more than enough power for what my purposes for it are

the Supra performed flawlessly on the wet drift day we had. lots of grip, factory LSD worked pretty good, had some difficulty with right hand turns, really had to throw it. E brake was phenomenal, best one ive ever used. plenty of power, just the right amount of slip. fixed the heat the day before so that was helpful. rear defrost does not work, and the quarter glass fogs up quite a bit and the factory mirrors i can not see out of for shit, those are my only gripes thus far. my seat broke mid drift on a few occasions, the corner by the center console popped out and seems to be missing a locking ring, minor things for such a great stock seat, very impressed. Im used to park bench seats and flat pads in all of my other cars, these p type seats are an amazing stock seat, i must say. i was very comfortable all day long, and so were my passengers.

i think i have the all the pieces ordered for my exhaust. hope to get to it this week and start working on it. most excite.

onto the pictures!

got some pics from the yachting expedition this past weekend.

took the hood off today to start removing unnecessary parts. removed the AC completely, minus the under dash pieces. cruise control, coolant vacuum bullocks, charcoal cansiter, the strange vacuum thing that looks like a fuel filter thing, ran the car while i was pulling stuff off to make sure it runs. took the markers and signals out and the sidemarkers disintegrated... some lights needed replacing, and the factory fogs, id like to make them yellow and on a switch would be dope for all the fog we get up here. took off the splash sheilds for the motor and wheel wells to get a good look at everything. interesting how the P Type flares are bolted and factory rolled. most cool. really liking this car, interestingly put together. fit my zenki lip for the s13 quickly, so ima clean that up and paint it and put that on when i lower the car. might be able to start this exhaust this weekend. excite

I'll trade you 2 speed bleeders sized for the brakes if you wanna send me one from your pack you get for the clutch(they come in packs of 2 for like 8 bucks), turns out they are not that same size as i thought. When i replaced the brake master I actually used a mighty vac with the stock bleeders since the speed bleeders i guess provided too much resistance for it, then switched them out to the speed bleeders and manually bled with the brake pedal for a few pumps to get it perfect. Worked like a charm. I did not feel like pumping the new master a billion times to get all the fluid through the lines, though i could just be crazy...

ive got speed bleeders on the S13 race car and the cressida race car, and my daily corolla and havent had a problem yet. the corolla took a lot more time than the others due to the previous owner driving with only 3/4 brake pads, half the rotor missing and subsequently running the brakes on no fluid. there was a lot of air in the system. i can get the speed bleeders locally for the same?

one from the clutch? sorry, i dont follow

ahh yes. yes i will be, if i can find the correct fitting. the r154 tranny in the cressida uses what looks to be the same speed bleeder as my Z32 brakes speed bleeders, might be similar for the W58 as well.

Holy cow, its my 83's twin sister in black! That rust spot just south of the pillar is exactly the same, except mine kinda went though at one point.. This is when I chose to stop daily driving it and started to re-build it.. I have not done much with the body work so far, its in dire need of love; after all these years its still running like a champ. Hence the purchase of an 86 parts car, that has now magically turned into another project car because its just too beautiful to use its bits..

currently taking out the power steering and doing a proper de powering of the rack, empty, clean, grease, re seal and re shim.
should be ok with the tiny 15s (got wheels on their way, 15x9 mind you) when all is said and done. if not, ill re power it. or go to the gym. hahaha

lots of room for activities in there. i have a koyo rad for an s13sr of mine that ill put in there as well. in the midst of completely removing the AC unit and ill be taking the interior out so i can make some seat rails for the recaro and put aside the factory seat which broke while drifting (missing a lock pin) Also in the midst of building an exhaust for it as well as the catalytic converter was TOAST, mucho sulfur smell. Thats a 7M NA manifold there that ill port a lil bit to match the other collector, the difference in sizing is closer to 1/8inch than the 2 1/4 to 2 inch ive read, going from manifold to collector. i cut my 2-1 just after the merge there. Got a mid muffler and a canister muffler for the rear. curious on how it will sound. ive grown to like quiet grunty cars. so many things. most excite

gotta fix that molding too, looks awful

Just curious, but why do a lot of people out here disable the power steering? Is it to cut down on losses, or can't it keep up with the driver (we used to call it "pump catch") on a tight course?

the power steering is awesome in these cars actually, drifting was very smooth and relaxed. im curious how it will feel, ive driven some manuel steering miatas and corollas, and i know this is a hevaier car, but i feel the tires/wheels in the front are what dictate the steering more.

im doing it to clean the car up and take as much weight out of it as i can, but put the interior back in. seeing how it would be, its a lot of stuff and quite heavy

took the interior out to get the seat area ready for some rails for the recaro. also removed the condensor from the cooling unit inside for a total AC delete. put the dash back together and that was that.
removed the stock exhaust manifold, the 5M and 7M are identical. ports are the same to the head, and the 6-2 collector is MAYBE 1/8inch wider, but everything lines up fine, there is no benefit to using a 7MGE manifold on the 5MGE. a local guy may have an aftermarket manifold i may pick up if it works, hoping its a pacesetter or something along those lines. won't start the exhaust til i know more about it and if i use it.
tidied up the fuel vapour tube as well. removed the lose stereo wires . general tidy today.
removed the PS rack as well, ready to be de powered tomorrow then that can go back in.

going to sort out those ugly coolant tubes with new coolant lines once i do the koyo up front, can't stand them, very gross.
whole engine bay needs a solid de greasing

been up to a few things with this space ship. i fully de powered the rack with a friend of mine last week or so. cleaned it up, took all the seals out, greased everything. Friend of mine at BC Works made me some rack spacers, i think 6.1mm? lots of thread engagement and red locktite, like i run on my s13. got the stainless steel lines and fitting today and put them in. currently missing 2 fittings that didnt get shipped in with the rest of the stuff :(
ive been putting together an exhaust for it as well, i think almost all magnaflow bits and pieces. this is my first full exhaust ive done by myself. First time tigging stainless, only done minor aluminum welding and built my welding cart. some success, some learns, many holes. i hope to finish the exhaust next weekend, maybe if im lucky, do my seat rails too. once thats done, going to put it all back together and go for a shake down. then start on the forward facing intake, do some cam cover painting and then do a track day or two in between. going to get some serial nine coilovers asap as well. should be a fun year with this thing.

broke my phone so no pics. rack is together and in. has urethane bushings now. stainless brake lines are done and bleed. went through an entire big container of brake fluid getting all the varish looking crud out. took the res off to clean that as well. put the engine bay back together; manifold and gasket are back on and the air cleaner box and that was it. put the fog lights and corner markers and grill in. mocked up the s13 zenki lip up there, just needs to be painted and stuff so it looks half decent. warren came over and helped to make the exhaust. lookin fresh. about halfway done that? or whatever. gotta get metal for seat rails, or ill make do with what i have and stuff...fuck those things take an entire day to make. dont like it.

been a LONG weekend. Just finished the exhaust today. sounds quiet at idle and roars with throttle. VERY sturdy, like, no give. most dope. test fit the 326 wing for giggles while taking a break from cutting and welding. i didnt want the tips sticking out too much, so i opted to leave them recessed a bit, looks more subtle and less rediculous. just gotta adjust toe up front, bolt the seats in and give it a wash then put the hood back on for the time being and then go test drive it and see what else it needs in the short term. Corolla has to go inside to fix the flex pipe section that leaks constantly, and i need to put the new thermostat in as the temps are between 50-60C 'at temp'. oil cooler got here and i hope this week ill be able to grab the threaded bit to bolt the sandwich to the block and then the filter. all the things happening.

the most ghetto of all building of things

ALSO

built this jobbie yesterday too. from left overs from the tire rack and whatever i had lying around. all the big stuff went outside
