i'm making an air intake pipe for my supra and i'm wondering if i have to make it just like the factory for hood clearance or if i can just go straight across the valve covers and us one bend to go straight to the MAFS, will i have problems hitting the hood?

also i was going to paint it with engine enamel should i do that or should i put exhaust wrap or heat reflective foil or something on it as well to stop heat

Im sure someone will chime in but I beleive there are some people who had made thier own pipes out of a 3" U-bend
