My gauge reads 0 when I get the car started. The little wire under the distributor (what I'm assuming is the oil sender) is connected. When I opened the cam covers, there was oil around the cams, so I do know it is circulating -- I just don't know if the pressure is OK.

So, whats the easiest way to manually check oil pressure? I have a gauge, I just need to know if there is an easier-to-get to location (or whether that sensor is even the sender)

Oil pressure gauge is on the exhaust side of the block towards the bottom. It looks like a grey mushroom. The one you are talking about is the coolant temp sensor. If you want to check the pressure remove the sender and thread in your gauge and away you go. More than likely its a wiring/connection problem. HTH
