it depends what your mounting, and how often you need to see it.

if its something critical (oil pressure, EGT on a turbo...) then id put it either in a pillar pod, or just to the right of the main instrument pod, or perhaps just behind the steering wheel, inside the dash pod.

if its a gauge for something minor (voltage, boost...), id just buy some of those screw on gauge cups they sell, and screw it to the top of your ashtray.
easily removed, doesnt mar the interior (those ashtrays are easy to find) and its close enough to see very easily.

You could also mount your peripheral gauges in a panel replacing the ashtray.

And SAFC sized boxes work well just above the rear viz mirror.

PS Both of these are stolen ideas - I just can't remember who to credit.

Yes, Lo-Tek makes them

I believe they come in different colors. Let's see, you have the Blue interior... Anybody get one of these yet in Blue???

Dean Anderson (i believe) mounted one of his gauges in the ash-tray compartment.

seriously though... think for a second - where do you want to put the gauges? where will they be convenient for you? put them there.

After checking the site what does "unpainted" mean? Our covers have the leather looking cover on them.

Are we supposed to get it covered?

I like mine a little closer to the instrument cluster. Here's what I did.

Two Cyberdyne cups mounted together and hung from the pillar. Wires through the two cups into the pillar. Clear filament boost tube drilled out the back of the cup and tucked invisibly away between the dash and pillar. I've often thought that a little bondo sculpture followed up with some black paint could mold the two gauge cups together for an even neater appearance. With a little imagination, you could probably get some cheaper cups and sculpt just about any form you want to mount anywhere you want.

you can probably also use plastic drinking cups and fiberglas to mold your own, if you get ambitious.

itd probably end up being cheaper to buy a premade, but just think, you can tell people you custom made your own gauge cluster.
