Those carbs look trick. Are they tricky to tune? Seems to me you would need seperate egt's on each header pipe to get the correct burn temps. I do have a atmospheric pressure density program that might be handy for your tuning. PM me if interested.

hey will when you grabbed that fuel pump did you think about getting the oil pump drift shaft?

newer shaft's don't have the cam lobe on it to work correctly.. either that or it hasn't been machined into a lobe yet..... not quite sure.

but just a thought..

interesting build bud. cant wait to see what this come's out like w/ video's and some dyno sheet's.

oh yeah. i'll ask some vw' buddies and see if any have side draft 45mm carb's for sale.

Yes, sidedraft carbs can actually be a real PITA to tune and keep synchronized if you're not familiar with them. Much patience is required and mandatory. :) I had a good synchrometer at one time but it got stolen along with the rest of my tools earlier this year.

the 5m oil pump drive shaft has a lobe on it. we already checked this in daves garage. the 7m doesnt have the lobe machined though. this fuel pump is physically larger then a sbc pump so idk if itll flow enough or not. we will have to check it out. just havent had time. been on a diet all year and joined a gym a couple weeks ago tryin to bust the belly off and its working. best weight rreduction mod i can do for my cars as it will benifit all of them

So whats going on William? still got the 40s? Stock cams and head would probably be a good candidate, wouldn't ya say? Know any good sources of education on how to prep webers for boost?

the stock cams wont work. the rear of the hks cams are machined fro the rear cam mount ignition. the distributor will not fit with side draft carbs mounted. yes, i still have the 40's, and still plan to sell them so i can buy some 45's. as for boost, i will not boost this car. as for prepping them for boost, i have a couple books, i beleive one of them mentions it but i dont recall which one.

at this point, i need to have the head machined to fit the over sized ss valves, ive decided to have a 5m block bored for the 20 over pistons im using instead of using the 20 over 7m block. its a newer 5m block so shouldnt need clearanced, though if i can get ahold of eric ill see if i can talk him out of his actual 6m block. also, i need to send the hks cams to be repaired. i was quoted $200-400 depending on how bad they are. then i need a mhg and at least new stock head bolts, maybe arp head studs if i can get some the proper length. i wont use 7mgte studs. also plan to get the 7mgte rods reconditioned and arp rod cap bolts installed. i want to get a light weight flywheel for a w58, and some msd 5m wires so i can shorten them for the rear dizzy cap.

im going to do it right. not gonna bother half assing it. thats why the 7m car isnt done either. im tired of just getting it done with what i have just to redo it later cause im not happy with it. just gonna do it right the first time and be done.

William, what were you looking for in terms of price for these? My cousin has a 240Z that these might work on.
