LOL, same thing happened to me. I aways thought it was a carpet retainer... kept it just 'cuz.

That's the retaining clip for your furthest apart (one for the left side, one for the right) dash vents...the smaller top ones.

Yep, as he says above, so most probably your dash vents that shoots on the side window is loose and / or all cracked.

I have two rather large self-tapping screws left from replacing the heater element some years ago. I have done many repairs in my time including head work on my Audi S4 and completely refurbishing the engines of both my beetle and Crown, but I have absolutely no idea where they were supposed to go..
I REALLY do not like leftover parts from a repair!
