Hey guys,

for those that don't know, I am design a drivetrain for my school's formula race team. my drivestub requires a clip/ring to fit retain the axle from sliding out (in the axial direction)

Name this clip:

the axle can be installed with the clip/ring already installed on the shaft and requires no pliers or tools to fit, or access from the inside for it's reals (usually a tap of the hammer does it). At rest, the ring's OD is equal to the major diameter of the splines and has a large enough gap that it can be compressed (via assembly pressure to an OD that is slightly smaller than the spline's minor diameter.

the searches that come off the top of my head are snap ring, spring steel wire, snap ring, external snap ring, c-clip are all incorrect...this is something else..

I'd imagine this thing is made from carbon steel. I need a manufacturer that carries them (has a catalog of various sizes)

any help is greatly appreciated!
